HOUSTON, Texas – July 6, 2011 – Parents who thought their home was safe are now battling with the state over custody of their children, and they believe they’re being punished because they’re poor.

“You shouldn’t take our (children) because we’ve fallen on hard times,” said Prince Leonard, a married father of six whose family resides in a northeast Houston storage shed.

The Leonards moved in three years ago after the father, an unemployed welder, was hired as a maintenance worker.

The family had already lost an apartment and believed the homeless shelter wasn’t safe enough.

“This is much more secure,” said Charlomane Leonard. “Our children can play outside here.”

Recently, a nosy passerby spotted the children outside and reported them to Child Protective Services.

A caseworker investigated, and the state took custody of the children.

According to CPS, the children were removed because the storage shed was a dangerous living environment.

The shed, which lacks running water, is about 12 feet wide and 25 feet long.

It has an air conditioner, refrigerator and two personal computers. The Leonards said their children were well cared for and happy there.

Now they’re fighting to have their children returned.

“We just want them back where they belong,” said Mr. Leonard.

Ed. Note: Maybe it’s time for someone to kidnap the children of Child Protective Services employees, so they know what it feels like! When is enough, enough? Revolution Now! Independence Forever!

PORTLAND, Oregon – February 7, 2011 – A jury has awarded $30,500 in economic damages to a man who was tasered by a Portland police officer inside a Denny’s Restaurant.

The city of Portland was found liable for battery, but not liable for false arrest or malicious prosecution in the case. Jurors determined that Officer Kevin Tully had a right to arrest Jason Elgin after he fell asleep at a southeast Portland Denny’s. However, they also believed Tully went too far when he tasered Elgin two times on the floor during the arrest.

“I’m happy with how it turned out,” said Elgin. “I really wanted to speak on behalf of the public that the force was not needed.”

“I’m gratified the jury found no force was required, because a hell of a lot of force was used,” said Greg Kafoury, the plaintiff’s attorney.

Elgin’s civil claim against the city for false arrest, battery and malicious prosecution originally asked for $300,000 for pain and suffering and legal fees.

While officer Tully declined to comment, his attorney did. ”Mr. Tully’s actions were a reaction to what Mr. Elgin was doing and they were proportional, including the use of the Taser,” said Bill Manlove, Tully’s Attorney.

Security video from two different camera angles showed 32-year-old Jason Elgin and a fellow student from Portland Community College at the restaurant in 2009, where they appeared to be asleep.

The two went to the Denny’s in southeast Portland at about 2:00 a.m. Elgin claimed they were exhausted after celebrating the end of midterms. The manager at Denny’s called police to see if they could help awaken them.

Officer Kevin Tully can be seen approaching the students. The video does not show Elgin being tasered. There is a gap during the actual tasering and takedown. “The tape really upsets me, because honestly you can’t really see what’s (happening),” said Elgin. “It was the independent witnesses that made the difference in this case.”

From another angle, Elgin can be seen on the floor. His classmate testified she woke up to hear Elgin screaming. The city’s attorney said the video shows that Elgin provoked the arrest by resisting.

Several witnesses who were inside testified that virtually everything officer Tully said was a lie.

Elgin was tasered by officer Tully two times and was charged with trespass, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, harassment and interfering with a police officer. All the charges were dropped.

HONOLULU, Hawaii (PNN) – January 20, 2011 – Pressure was mounting on Hawaii Governor Neil Abercrombie today amid increasing confusion over whether illegitimate President Obama was born there.

Abercrombie said on Tuesday that an investigation had unearthed papers proving Obama was born in Hawaii in 1961.

He told Honolulu’s Star-Advertiser, “It actually exists in the archives, written down,” he said.

But it became apparent that what had been discovered was an unspecified listing or notation of Obama’s birth that someone had made in the state archives and not a birth certificate.

Abercrombie suggested that a long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate for Barack Obama may not exist within the vital records maintained by the Hawaii Department of Health.

He said efforts were still being made to track down definitive vital records that would prove Obama was born in Hawaii.

Abercrombie was asked, “You stirred up quite a controversy with your comments regarding birthers and your plan to release more information regarding (illegitimate) President Barack Obama’s birth certificate. How is that coming?”

He acknowledged the birth certificate issue would have political implications for the next presidential election “that we simply cannot have”.

“It’s a matter of principle with me,” the 72-year-old said. “I knew his mum and dad. I was here when he was born. Anybody who wants to ask a question honestly could have had their answer already.”

Credible evidence suggests that Obama, born in 1961, is not eligible to be Commander-in-Chief because he is not a natural born citizen. Witnesses, including Obama’s grandmother – who says she was present at his birth – indicate that Obama was actually born in Kenya, and Kenyan officials appear to confirm such allegations.

Some believe his Certification of Live Birth is fake and he was really born in Kenya. Others argue that Obama is a citizen of the United Kingdom or Indonesia. Most of these allegations have been dismissed rather than examined as to their factual basis. Mainstream media and government sources have all denied the allegations, which of course is what one would expect of both.

The governor vowed when he took office in December that he would do his best to end the debate over Obama’s birth, which began in 2008 during the presidential campaign. To date, he has failed to keep that promise.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia – December 31, 2010 – A Charlottesville man who stripped down to his underwear at Richmond International Airpot to protest security-screening procedures was charged with disorderly conduct Thursday, airport police said.

Airport police identified him as Aaron B. Tobey, 21. He told police he was a student at the University of Cincinnati. The incident occurred at 2:17 p.m. at Checkpoint B, the busier of the airport’s two checkpoints, said airport spokesman Troy M. Bell.

Bell said police reported that when they arrived at the checkpoint, they found Tobey, “absent of pants and shirt in full public view, exposing language regarding the Fourth Amendment written on his chest and abdomen with marker or crayon.”

The message read, “Amendment 4: The right of the people to be secure against unreasonable searches and seizures shall not be violated,” said Bell.

Many air travelers are upset by tough new, invasive screening procedures in which they must choose between full-body scanners that emit dangerous radiation or overly intrusive pat down searches that are tantamount to sexual assault.

Tobey was interviewed by airport police and federal authorities, issued a citation for disorderly conduct and released. He is scheduled for arraignment in Henrico County General District Court on January 10.

WASHINGTON – December 17, 2010 – With signs that the flu season is picking up momentum, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) today unveiled a demonstration project to raise flu vaccination rates in minority groups, backed by $10 million worth of vaccine vouchers from Walgreens.

The vouchers, which can be distributed by community groups along with local and state health departments, target 15 cities with large minority populations and can be redeemed at Walgreens stores or at the company’s Take Care clinics.

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said at a press briefing today that the nation is making good progress this year in getting the vaccine into people’s arms, and so far about a third of Americans have been immunized. However, she said numerous individuals are still unprotected, including many in African American and Hispanic populations, who are more likely to have chronic medical conditions that put them at high risk for flu complications.

“Private partners are stepping up to do their part,” Sebelius said. “My colleagues and I are really pleased with this opportunity.”

The project also includes a communications component to boost flu vaccine awareness among minority groups, with the rollout of new public service announcements to 11,000 radio stations.

Kermit Crawford, president of pharmacy services at Walgreens, called his company’s donation an important initiative in the effort to reduce health disparities among underserved groups. Crawford said the vouchers will allow 350,000 people to be immunized.

Dr. Howard Koh, assistant secretary for health at the HHS, said disparities in flu vaccination rates is not new and has been a factor for far too long. “We need to reach people where they live, work, pray, and play,” he added. A recent snapshot of this season’s flu vaccine uptake showed that immunization rates for whites was 10% higher than for blacks or Hispanics.

Koh said the demonstration project sites represent areas that have large African American or Hispanic populations and also have Walgreens stores.

“We are very eager to work closely with Walgreens and regional health administrators to make this come alive in these communities,” Koh said.

Dr. Dan Jernigan, deputy director of the CDC’s Influenza Division, said the timing of the demonstration project is good, because there are signs that the nation’s flu season is starting to escalate. “There’s a steady increase in doctor’s office visits, as we’d expect for this time of year,” he said.

So far there have been few hospitalizations and very few deaths. “It’s a great time to be vaccinated,” Jernigan said.

FLAGSTAFF, Arizona – January 2, 2011 – New rules aimed at controlling greenhouse gas emissions will be enforced directly by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in parts of Arizona, since the state refused to submit its own plan for dealing with the pollutants.

Arizona had accused the EPA of overstepping its authority in regulating greenhouse gases and said the state wouldn’t spend its limited resources on rules that run counter to state policy and might not survive congressional and legal challenges.

However, the state has reluctantly agreed to let the EPA impose the federal plan for now because the agency could have blocked construction or expansion of projects that need the air permits.

The new rules, which took effect January 2, add greenhouse gases to the list of pollutants covered under air quality permits and will eventually require the largest polluters to reduce emissions.

The federal intervention widens a rift between Arizona and the EPA, which have been feuding over a dust-control plan in Maricopa County.

“It’s not a good situation, but our approach will prevent a bad situation from getting worse,” said Benjamin Grumbles, the now-former director of the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, who negotiated the agreement with the EPA.

Grumbles, who left the agency last month, said everyone knows it’s important to improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

“It just doesn’t make sense to put all of our efforts into developing a program based on an EPA authority that is under intense scrutiny in Congress and the courts,” he said.

EPA’s move to regulate greenhouse gas emissions has resulted in sharp opposition from critics who believe the agency sidestepped Congress and overstated the threat of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases.

While most states have adopted the new rules, Arizona and six others did not meet the deadline and agreed to accept a federal plan until they could rewrite their own regulations. Texas has refused to comply, and the EPA plans to issue permits directly to Texas industries.

Bill Becker, executive director of the Washington-based National Association of Clean Air Agencies, said the federal government’s role in Arizona is akin to a friendly takeover.

“Practically speaking, it accomplishes the exact same result that the other states’ programs accomplish, with the exception that EPA and not the state will be issuing the permit,” Becker said.

By: Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson
FrontPageMagazine.com | Wednesday, December 29, 2004

While public officials, schools, and the ACLU worked overtime this year to ban every vestige of Christmas from the public square, the recently invented holiday known as Kwanzaa is gaining in popularity among black Americans. These occurrences are not unrelated.

In an earlier time, blacks held a strong faith in God. But over the past 40 years, the black community has largely let God slip away. Sure the community has maintained the outer trappings of religion, but the solid morality at its core is nearly gone.

Enter a God-hating black racist named Ron Karenga. Born Ron Everett on a poultry farm in Maryland, Everett invented Kwanzaa in 1966, based on an African harvest festival (though it takes place during the Winter Solstice!), and celebrating the first Kwanzaa with his family and friends.

Calling himself “Maulana” (Swahili for “Master Teacher”), Karenga became a black nationalist at UCLA, and formed his group, the United Slaves (US) for the purpose of igniting a “cultural revolution” among American blacks. US members followed Karenga’s “Path of Blackness,” which is detailed in his Quotable Karenga: “The sevenfold path of blackness is think black, talk black, act black, create black, buy black, vote black, and live black.”

The United Slaves had violent confrontations with the Black Panthers on campus, and were actually considered more radical than the Panthers.

The biggest dispute between the United Slaves and the Panthers was for the leadership of the new African Studies Department at UCLA, with each group backing a different candidate. Panthers John Jerome Huggins and Alprentice “Bunchy” Carter verbally attacked Karenga at the meeting, which infuriated Karenga’s followers. After the meeting ended, two United Slaves members, George and Larry Stiner, reportedly confronted Huggins and Carter in a hallway, shooting and killing them.

Incidentally, on March 31, 1974, it was discovered that both Stiner brothers had escaped from the family visiting area in San Quentin State Prison. Larry Stiner turned himself into the FBI in Caracas, Venezuela, on December 13, 1994. He remains in custody at San Quentin. But George Stiner remains at large and his whereabouts remain unknown. He is currently on California’s 10 Most Wanted List.

The shooting at UCLA apparently caused Karenga to become extremely suspicious. On May 9, 1970, Karenga and two others tortured two women who Karenga believed had tried to poison him by placing “crystals” in his food and water.

The Los Angeles Times described the events: “Deborah Jones, who once was given the title of an African queen, said she and Gail Davis were whipped with an electric cord and beaten with a karate baton after being ordered to remove their clothes at gunpoint. She testified that a hot soldering iron was placed in Miss Davis’ mouth and placed against Miss Davis’ face and that one of her own big toes was tightened in a vice. Karenga, head of US, also put detergent and running hoses in their mouths, she said.”

Karenga was sentenced to one-to-ten years in prison on counts of felonious assault and false imprisonment. At his trial, the question arose as to Karenga’s sanity. The psychiatrist’s report stated: “This man now represents a picture which can be considered both paranoid and schizophrenic with hallucinations and illusions, inappropriate affect, disorganization, and impaired contact with the environment.” The psychiatrist reportedly observed that Karenga talked to his blanket and imaginary persons, and he believed he’d been attacked by dive-bombers.

Eight years later, California State University Long Beach named Karenga the head of its Black Studies Department. By this time, Karenga had “repented” of his black nationalism and had become just a harmless garden variety Marxist. This must be our esteemed university system’s idea of repentance!

Karenga’s Kwanzaa celebration consists of seven “principles.” They are Umoja (unity), Kujichagulia (self-determination – code for “buy black”), Ujima (collective work and responsibility – groupthink), Ujamaa (cooperative economics – socialism), Nia (purpose) Kuumba (creativity), and Imani (faith – in man, not God).

To provide a symbol of his seven “principles,” Karenga used the menorah from Judaism with Kwanzaa’s colors (red, black, and green), and re-named it the “kinara.”

Karenga also created a Kwanzaa flag that consists of black, green, and red. The Kwanzaa Information Center states the color red represents blood: “We lost our land through blood; and we cannot gain it except through blood. We must redeem our lives through the blood. Without the shedding of blood there can be no redemption of this race.” The Kwanzaa Information Center also notes that this flag “has become a symbol of devotion for African people in America to establish an independent African nation on the North American Continent.” (Emphasis added.)

When once asked why he designed Kwanzaa to take place around Christmas, Karenga explained, “People think it’s African, but it’s not. I came up with Kwanzaa because black people wouldn’t celebrate it if they knew it was American. Also, I put it around Christmas because I knew that’s when a lot of bloods would be partying.”

Karenga has explained that his creation of Kwanzaa was motivated in part by hostility toward both Christianity and Judaism. Writing in his 1980 book Kawaida Theory, he claimed that Western religion “denies and diminishes human worth, capacity, potential and achievement. In Christian and Jewish mythology, humans are born in sin, cursed with mythical ancestors who’ve sinned and brought the wrath of an angry God on every generation’s head.” He clearly opposed belief in God and other “spooks who threaten us if we don’t worship them and demand we turn over our destiny and daily lives.”

Through ignorance or racism, growing numbers of black Christians are either celebrating Kwanzaa or incorporating it into their Christmas celebrations. Now many preachers are incorporating Kwanzaa into their messages. This is a horrible mistake.

First of all, as we’ve seen, the whole holiday is made up! You won’t find its roots in Africa or anywhere else. Second, Kwanzaa’s “principles” are straight from Hell. Third, and most importantly, Christians who celebrate or incorporate Kwanzaa are moving their attention away from Christmas, the birth of our Savior, and the simple message of salvation: love for God through his Son. To add or subtract from that message is evil.

In recent years Kwanzaa has become increasingly popular and mainstream. President Bill Clinton commemorated Kwanzaa, stating that Kwanzaa’s seven principles “ring true not only for African-Americans, but also for all Americans…bring[ing] new purpose to our daily lives.” In 2002, President Bush, though a devout Christian, also commemorated Kwanzaa. The U.S. Postal Service issued a Kwanzaa stamp in 1997; the Smithsonian Institution sponsors an annual celebration; and greeting card companies churn out Kwanzaa cards for profit.

It is now clear that Kwanzaa is a phony, wicked holiday created by an ex-con who hates God, Christians, Jews, and blacks – yes blacks. Why else would he try to pull them away from Christianity and indoctrinate them in racialism and socialism? Blacks, particularly black Christians, need to stand up for Christmas and reject Kwanzaa. If they refuse, they will be helping to stamp out the true meaning of Christmas, and allowing evil to have its way in America.

This is a future we cannot allow.

The Huffington Post reports that Former President Jimmy Carter said in a recent interview with “Big Think” “that the nation’s tolerance of gays [sic] had grown to a level that could facilitate the election of a gay [sic] president.” Carter believes this would be a good thing for America.

James Carville, an advisor to Bill Clinton when he was president, asked, “How do we know we haven’t had one?” I suspect he is referring to James Buchanan (1791–1868), the “bachelor president” who served one term from 1857 to1861. Some suspect that Abraham Lincoln might have been a closeted homosexual or bisexual. If you follow enough homosexual historical revisionist literature, every great person was a homosexual or leaned that way. This seems to be the thesis of A.L. Rowse’s book Homosexuals in History (1977).

Harvey Wasserman tries to make the case that Buchanan was “‘married’ to William Rufus King, a pro-slavery Democrat from Alabama who was our only bachelor Vice President.’” Andrew Jackson “referred to them as ‘Aunt Nancy’ and ‘Mr. Fancy.’” Aaron V. Brown, governor of Tennessee and Postmaster General under Buchanan, spoke of the two as “Buchanan and his wife.” Even so, if Buchanan had campaigned as an admitted homosexual, he never would have won the presidency, so it’s disingenuous to go back in history and argue, “Hey, we might have already had a homosexual president, and everything turned out fine.”

Carter claims that he’s a Christian. He taught Sunday School when he served as President. His pro-homosexual beliefs have a long history. After reading his article entitled “Judge Not” in the February 27, 1996, issue of the Atlanta Constitution, I wondered what Bible he was using. He might want to heed the admonition of James: “Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we will incur a stricter judgment” (James 3:1), especially when the Bible is so clear on the topic of homosexuality.

For more than 30 years the “Born Again” Carter has entered the debate over Christian activism and politics with jabs at the “religious right.” While Carter does not claim that Christians should not participate in the political process, he makes some outlandish statements regarding abortion and homosexuality and those who condemn the practices. He considers abortion and homosexuality to be “emotional” not moral or theological issues. He spouts the all too familiar platitude about believing in the “separation between church and state,” implying that civil laws have no religious or moral context. He seems to forget that the civil rights movement was framed in biblical terms and was led by Baptist ministers. I haven’t heard anyone object to Al Gore’s appeal to the Bible on environmental issues.[1]

Carter begins with a few unproven assumptions. He states that “since almost all Protestants now condone divorce as an acceptable fact of life, and rarely mention fornication or adultery—even though these acts were repeatedly condemned by Jesus—it is much easier and more convenient to focus on homosexuality, refusing to acknowledge that this is a sin never mentioned by Jesus.”

Carter’s operating premises are defective. He has been hanging out with liberals for so long that he is out of touch with his own Baptist roots and the Bible. Conservative Christians from all denominations do not “condone divorce.” They know it happens, but most do not approve of it except under the rarest of circumstances. Christians were shocked when they learned of Jim Bakker’s sexual exploits with Jessica Hahn. His ministry was lost and Heritage USA is a ghost town. Jimmy Swaggart came under similar condemnation after he engaged in fornication with a prostitute. His ministry is a shadow of its former mega-ministry status.

Of course, what Christians “condone” is of little importance. Our opinions about divorce and fornication are not relevant. The Bible remains the standard. If Christians have been delinquent in addressing the prevalence of adultery, fornication, and divorce in the church, that is no excuse to accept abortion and homosexuality. Two or three wrongs do not make other wrongs right.

“I’m a Jesus-Only Christian”

Carter makes a typical hermeneutical mistake by arguing that since Jesus did not condemn homosexuality, neither should we. Let’s follow Carter’s logic and see where it takes us. Jesus did not condemn rape, slavery, incest, or bestiality. Carter is not alone in developing a theology based “only on the words of Jesus.”[2] Others, less extreme, want a New Testament-only ethic. Neither position can withstand careful scrutiny. The New Testament assumes the validity of the Old Testament, including its ethical demands regarding adultery, homosexuality, and abortion. What did the early church use before the gospels and epistles circulated? The church at Corinth did not have the letters Paul wrote to Galatia and Ephesus. The Christians at Berea examined “the Scriptures daily” to see whether Paul’s theology was orthodox (Acts 17:11). These Scriptures, actually “writings” (graph?), were the books of what we call the Old Testament. (A better designation would be “Prior” or “First Testament.”) Jesus’ words and Paul’s letters are filled with allusions and quotations from the Old Testament (Mark 12:10; Acts 8:32; Rom. 4:3; 1 Tim. 4:13; 5:18; 2 Tim. 3:16; James 2:8; 2 Peter 1:20).

Paul tells us what we should think of all of God’s Word, the Prior Testament included: “All Scripture [graph?] is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work” (2 Tim. 3:16–17). Paul was not a New-Testament-only believer, and he did not preach a New-Testament-only ethic.

The New Testament, therefore, must be read and interpreted against the backdrop of the Prior Testament. There is no New-Testament-only ethic. This means that Jesus’ carefully chosen words have a Prior Testament context. The word “fornication” (porneia) includes numerous sexual sins under the general heading of “uncleanness.”

[Fornication] is used in the LXX [the Greek translation of the Hebrew Old Testament] for homosexuality, for consanguinity, and by Paul for “uncleanness” and “lasciviousness.” In Rom. 1:29, it refers to sexual sins in general; in I Cor. 6:13–18, it refers to relations with prostitutes (vss. 15, 16) and to sexual sins generally; in I Cor. 7:2, it means adultery and mental or physical sexual disorders through forced continence and bad relations between husband and wife.[3]

In 1 Corinthians 5:1, the word “fornication” is used twice to refer to a sin which was being tolerated by the church: a man was having sexual relations with his stepmother, something Jesus did not specifically condemn, but which is covered under the general prohibition of “fornication” (see Lev. 18:8; Deut. 22:30; 27:20). In Paul’s list of sexual sins in Romans 1:29, the apostle includes fornication, a term which meant all acts of sexual immorality, including homosexuality. So then, the Prior Testament (Deut. 24:1), Jesus (Matt. 5:32 and 19:9), and Paul condemn fornication (1 Cor. 7:2), which includes the sin of homosexuality.

Creating a License to Sin

Carter continues to muddy the clear teaching of the Bible by claiming “that leaders of the early church treated homosexual acts the same as fornication, prostitution, adultery, selfishness, slander, drunkenness and many other transgressions” but “that all these acts had been forgiven.” Is Carter saying that once a person becomes a Christian that he or she can continue in these sins because forgiveness has taken place? Would he apply the same logic to a thief or a murderer? Paul states unequivocally in 1 Corinthians 6:11 that “such were some of you.” Those at Corinth who practiced these sins had given them up, “implying that behavioral change had taken place.”[4] Homosexuality is a lifestyle to be rejected, along with stealing, drunkenness, extortion, fornication, and adultery. Homosexuals should be called on to repent, turn from the sin of same-sex sex, and publicly condemn the practice.

Why is it that Carter does not stand up for prostitutes, adulterers, and drunkards in the same way he stands up for homosexuals? Why aren’t adulterers and prostitutes given a special social and legal status as well as their own denomination as homosexuals do? “If the apostate denominations want congregations of homosexuals, why do they not also establish congregations of practicing prostitutes,”[5] adulterers, thieves, rapists, extortionists, and murderers?

Carter is confused and out of step with biblical Christianity. The Bible clearly condemns homosexuality. In fact, the Bible connects the sin of homosexuality with the disintegration of society (Rom. 1:18–27). Carter wants Christians to tolerate and even accept homosexuality. The Bible calls for its condemnation in the strongest words possible. And so while the culture is slowly drained of its moral vitality by liberal leeches parading as competent physicians, social theorists wonder why America has lost its soul.

President Obama’s repeal of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy is already damaging the U.S. military.

An Army lieutenant colonel has asked to be relieved of command rather than order his troops to go through pro-homosexual indoctrination following the repeal of the policy, which required homosexuals to keep silent about their sexual preference.

Currently the commander of a battalion-sized unit in the Army National Guard, the officer also has threatened to resign his commission rather than undergo “behavior modification” training intended to counter his religious convictions about homosexuality.

The soldier sent the following letter to his commanding officer:

Subject: Request for Relief from Command due to Personal Moral Conflict with New Homosexual Policy

1. I respectfully request to be relieved of Command of XXX Squadron, XXX Cavalry prior to new policy implementation subsequent to the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” My personal religious beliefs and moral convictions do not permit me to treat homosexuality as an acceptable lifestyle, compatible with military service, any more than adultery, illicit drug use, or criminal activity. I believe this lifestyle runs counter to good order and discipline in military units, and I refuse to sacrifice my belief system, protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, in order to fall in line with the command policy that will logically follow. This new policy will undoubtedly include mandatory sensitivity training as well as same-sex partner inclusion in Family Readiness Group activities and integration into the full spectrum of other military benefits, as well as a whole new category of discrimination standards and investigative procedures. I will not, as a commander, put my signature on a training schedule or other document recognizing or legitimizing any of these things that contradict my personal beliefs.

2. I would like to remain in the XXX Army National Guard until I am eligible for retirement (at 20 years and 0 days), which would be in the late summer of 2012, but on grounds of my religious beliefs, I will not attend sensitivity or behavior modification training consequential to this policy change, even if it means disciplinary action. I regret that I cannot continue to serve in the military further, but feel that my efforts would be insincere because my heart will no longer be in it.”

“I will not be the person who forces this training on my soldiers,” the officer, whose identity was being protected, told WND. He plans to go on the record as soon as he discusses his request with his chain of command.

The officer said he’s aware of other officers who intend to resign their commissions.

“These people want to serve. I want to serve. I love my job, but I can’t do this job once they begin to implement this policy,” he told WND.

Under the terms of the DADT repeal, the armed forces will not be permitted to allow open homosexuality in the service until the president, secretary of defense and head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff can certify that terminating DADT will not impair military readiness. During the transition period that will precede certification, the military plans to require servicemen to attend mandatory training sessions intended to change their attitudes toward homosexuality.

“Very few soldiers are fine with open homosexuals in the service,” said the officer. “I cannot believe the numbers jibe with what was published in the previous survey,” referring to a study commissioned by the Pentagon to assess whether the military could safely repeal DADT.

“I did not give up my constitutional rights and freedom of religion when I joined the military. I don’t believe in subjecting myself to all of the behavior modification and sensitivity training. They’re going to try to push the position that this is an acceptable lifestyle.”

Beyond concerns about violating his own conscience and the beliefs of his soldiers, the officer predicts several additional adverse consequences to repealing the military’s ban on open homosexuality.

“I don’t believe the steps they’re taking allow a commander to maintain good order and discipline in a military unit,” the officer told WND. “DADT was a compromise to allow homosexuals to serve as long as they kept it to themselves. Now they’ll be able to throw their lifestyle in everybody’s face and commanders won’t be able to do anything about it.”

The officer also predicted problems with retention and recruitment:

“I think it might not have an immediate, huge impact, but as enlistments expire you’ll get people who vote with their feet and leave the service, and I don’t believe the recruiting effort is going to offset the amount of people that leave. The military historically attracts a more conservative group of people who have certain principles and beliefs and swear an oath to the Constitution.”

As previously reported by WND, some experts predict as many as a quarter of Americans in military service will resign or leave earlier than planned because of the advent of open homosexuality. Nearly half of the Marine Corps respondents to the Pentagon survey said they would consider leaving the service earlier than planned.

The officer also predicted growing security problems as homosexuals become more prevalent in the service.

“One of the Army values is selfless service. Placing the good of the nation above personal desires is an essential trait of a good soldier, who may be called upon to give his or her life in the nation’s defense. When you start trying to attract people who are so self-centered that they put living their lifestyle out in the open above the needs of their country and national defense, then you have a really dangerous combination. That’s when you get instances like PFC Bradley Manning, who is a homosexual. Because of his personal beliefs and bitterness toward the military he decided to leak 150,000 sensitive wires that have done irreparable damage to our nation.”

Manning, an openly gay soldier, reportedly sent many thousands of sensitive documents to the Wikileaks website out of anger over the military’s ban on open homosexuality.
